The recommended application date for financial aid is March 1. After you apply for admission, your next step is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). We recommend you apply online.
- There is less chance for error online.
- You can electronically sign with a PIN number.
- It's faster. It takes as little as 30 minutes to complete the application.
When you submit a FAFSA, you are applying for Pell Grants, SEOG, GO Grants, Direct Stafford Student Loans, Perkins Loans, PLUS Loans, and Federal Work-Study. The FAFSA also serves Lousiana residents as the recommended application for TOPS.
If you file an application after the deadline, you should be prepared to make personal arrangements to pay for all university charges in the event that your disbursement is not ready for registration. The University’s award year begins with the summer semester and ends with the spring.
Complete a FAFSA each year as soon after Jan. 1 as possible to ensure the maximum award.
